Our Story

Welcome to Man Overboard, an Antique and Collectibles Store nestled in Virginia's Occoquan Historic District since 2010. A haven for collectors, our store boasts a diverse range of unique items that embody the charm of bygone eras.

Our owner and founder, Paul Wetmore, started at the age of 12 collecting beer cans and brewery items, which became very popular in the 1970’s. His father taught him the value of working hard to earn money to get the items he wanted and so he did whatever a young kid could do to earn some pocket money. He mowed lawns, raked leaves, walked dogs, shoveled snow, delivered newspapers, and sold programs in the stands for football and basketball games at Notre Dame University. He would go to the Beer Can collector swap meets, flea markets, yard sales, auctions, and various events searching for what they considered a treasure. Paul then created this business for something to do in his retirement. Man Overboard started small in 2010 renting a small space in an antique Mall in central Illinois and it took off from there.

Pride is taken in curating a collection catering to various interests, including pin-ups, brewery items, gas and oil antiques, military paraphernalia, posters, vintage signs, hats, clothing, barware, and man cave items. Each item, carefully displayed, tells a unique story, transporting visitors back in time upon entering.

Step into our space and bask in the warm glow of vintage lamps, setting a nostalgic ambiance. Explore rows of collectibles, each with its tale, and discover the perfect piece to add flair to your living space or find impressive gifts among our extensive selection of antique and vintage signs. These signs not only serve as eye-catching displays but also embody the history and character of their respective eras.

Beyond our captivating range, Man Overboard offers valuable services, providing fair prices for unwanted old beer cans and brewery collectibles. Our expert team professionally assesses item values and ensures desirable deals for sellers.

What distinguishes Man Overboard is our commitment to a unique shopping experience. Our knowledgeable staff shares anecdotes and stories about the items, guiding both seasoned collectors and novices through the world of antiques.

As an integral part of the Occoquan Historic District, we contribute to preserving and celebrating the area's rich heritage. Surrounded by a vibrant community of antique shops, boutiques, and art galleries, we encourage visitors to explore the district's historic treasures, ensuring an unforgettable outing.
